One cannot destroy a grimoire - at least, not in the conventional sense of the word. Sure, one can quite easily render it useless with fire, sometimes even reducing it to ash, but it is not a mere journal to be filled with information. The writings may be gone, but the knowledge, the magics are not lost or destroyed, merely displaced for a time.
Eventually they will find a new vessel, they will return, and they will be just as dangerous as before.
Nay, they shall be more dangerous, as they will probably take us unaware. For who will keep watch for those things thought lost or rendered inert?
You cannot destroy magic, only inconvienience it for a time…
